PERSONAL
Nessa is a versatile guitarist, composer and performing artist who merges elements of the past and present from classical, flamenco, jazz and funk to create new age acoustical guitar music for the future and for new generations. She has produced three CDs showcasing her high energy and electrifying performance ability. In addition to the traditional pieces, Nessa is on the leading edge of the neo-classical and flamenco movement.
Ready When You Are features beautiful acoustic guitar music. She is a magnificently smooth strummer, this CD is perfect for relaxing summer nights or any other environment where ‘chilling’ is to be accomplished; highly enjoyable!

Adding to her extraordinary musical ability, Nessa is a professional actress whose credits include ER, Diagnosis Murder, the Laramie Project for HBO, Animal Planet for the Discovery Channel, the award winning feature movie Straight Jacket and numerous independent films. Nessa is also an educator, lecturing at colleges and high schools on the entertainment field and historical research and teaching music to private students.
EDUCATION
She began musical studies at the age of seven and at the age of eight, she gave her first public performance. At age eleven, Nessa performed in her first television commercial and since then has had principal and supporting roles in student films, independent films and television productions. Nessa draws inspiration from acts as diverse as Earth, Wind & Fire, Ramsey Lewis, Jaco Pastorious, Stanley Clarke, Al McKay and classical composers like Bach and Beethoven. She shows off those influences on her latest CD Ready When You Are.

Following her graduation from college, she studied flamenco guitar with Rene Heredia and participated in the 2000 Christopher Parkening Master Class.

Nessa’s has opened for such noted artists as the Gipsy Kings, Alicia de la Roca, Doc Severinsen, Pilar Rioja, Ricardo Iznaola, the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, Pete Christlieb and Spike Robinson. Other guest appearances include WB2 Morning News Hour in Denver, DCTV’s Su Teatro Live, Inner Vision, Down Home Diner, Spaghetti Noodles, 850 KOA Radio’s late night show with Rick Barber, KRFM Radio in Show Low, Arizona, KILA Radio Los Angeles, KGNU Radio’s “The Naked Stage-in exile,” KRFC Radio’s Live at Lunch, KVOD (Colorado Public Radio) Colorado Spotlight, KLZ Radio’s “Studio 56,” KYGT Radio, “The Culture Buzz” on KNRC The Colorado Wave The Wolf FM 106.5, the Colorado Renaissance Festival, Cherry Creek Arts Festival, A Taste Of Colorado, and the Colorado Performing Arts Festival. As a vocalist, Nessa has performed at Expo 86 in Vancouver, B.C., the Manhattan Choral Festival in New York City, the Marvin Hamlisch Show, the Denver Symphony Orchestra and the Parade of Lights in Denver. Her Eight Spanish and Judeo folk song arrangements were premiered by the University of Colorado Guitar quartet in 2000 as well as at the Fourth Annual Guitar Ensemble Festival at the University of Texas at Brownsville 2005. She entertained the Ambassador to India as a flamenco guitarist.
When Nessa performs, one has an almost overwhelming desire to close one’s eyes, to travel with her to those far away places we have only read about. She is undoubtedly one of the finest musicians of any genre in the Front Range area, and one of the best in her field.

ORIGINAL COMPOSITIONS
Included in a long list of published original works and arrangements by Nessa are the incidental music for the stage play Inner Demons, and eight Judeo-Spanish Folk Songs which were premiered by the University of Colorado guitar quartet. In addition, her work on the independent films 5 Women and Six Chairs, MD Sherry, Again and Again and Angel of Duh, have been noted by experts in the field.

AWARDS
In 2005 Nessa was added to the Hall of Fame at Red Rocks Amphitheater along with the Gipsy Kings who she had the honor of opening for in 2004. In 2003 Nessa was nominated for an Independent Music Award in the best New Age Song category for her original composition “Allemande” from her CD “Ready When You Are”. Her website was awarded the 2003 - 2004 prestigious Golden Web Award from the I.A.W.M.D., (International Association of Web Masters and Designers), KGNU Radio’s top 100 CD releases for 2003, include Nessa’a “Ready When You Are” in the top four of classical releases. Also in 2003, Nessa received the ASCAP “Popular Award” (1996-2000) and the ASCAP “Standard Award” (2000-2005) for her composition work. In 2003 Nessa’s name was added to the Classical Guitarist Composers List International.
Ready When You Are shows a heartfelt passion for Mediterranean music offers a striking interpretation of flamenco music, tinged with gypsy/Eastern rhythms, more fleshed out and delicately executed than that of the Gipsy Kings Best of. Quite an unexpected, refreshing gem!

Nessa has performed for Food Bank of the Rockies and other non-profit organizations, Nessa is in demand in the Denver area community.
Ms. Marquez seems able to handle any style of music from jazz to classical, flamenco and even pop. As a virtuoso flamenco guitarist, she is also a composer of diverse and innovative songs and performs flawlessly live. She’s one of those musicians that emerges from the shadows and brings a huge level of professionalism to her work and her audience.
